Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas blogsphere :)

So today morning I greeted a friend saying Merry Christmas :) I got a reply well Muslims should not say Merry Christmas :/ Muslims should say Happy Holidays!!

Is that true? and why? I lived so many years abroad and always wished my friends Merry Christmas...Is it really 7aram..not that it makes me any difference but just want to know why are Muslims not allowed to say Merry Christmas?

Wallah ana i like to congratulate everyone on every holiday. Why shouldn't i?

If it makes someone happier, then that's what our religion calls for.

Its not like we're crucifying ourselves or anything. Wallah some ppl make a big deal over itty bitty things.

When there is an entire book in the holy Qu'ran about Mariam and this miraculous birth, it seems a little strange that people would feel it inappropriate to say Merry Christmas.

Most of the educated Moslems I know have no problem with it - those who truly know the contents of their religion!

Nor do I have any problem wishing you a blessed Eid.

intlxpatr and ammaro: I totally agree with you guys ... I wish people think more wisely!
My BIL says that as Muslims, all we need to celebrate is our own Islamic holidays.

However, I agree with a lot of your commenters that just because you wish someone for their holiday, it doesn't mean you are going to convert to Christianity. Bless my BIL but he is very rigid in his beliefs which I struggle with.

When my son was born on December 22; my hubby gave my mom and my 2.7 year old girl and me Xmas gifts. It was for my Mom's sake. He was happy, he got his son!

We just have to be careful I guess, whom we wish and how we wish them! Just my thoughts!
