The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence, and William Kamkwamba has it in spades. At age fourteen, while many of us were sneaking out of classrooms, William was struggling to sneak into them—his family was unable to afford the $80 annual tuition. As is bound to happen to most students, he was caught. But instead of being sent to detention, he was barred from the school. In a show of the driven man he would become, he didn't allow that to hinder him and instead started spending his days in the local library.

Hotmail Account Hacked

The best gift I got after coming back from my beautiful vacation was to find out that my Hotmail account that I used for blogger has been hacked. I cant access it anymore. I have tried to access it several times with my password and it just doesn't seem to be working! For all the bloggers who send me emails from time to time or are on my msn messenger this is to inform you that I am not using my messenger any more as I don't have access to my account.

Plaza Premium Lounge Muscat

We just arrived Muscat few hours back and as we have a short lay over of 5 hours so decided to rest at the airport lounge which turned out to be pretty good except my neighbor is snoring. And because the rest rooms are like cabins its not a pleasant sound!!

Enjoy the pics till I rest before I catch my flight in the morning for Salalah...

Off to Salalah

I am traveling to Salalah soon taking few days off from work and combining them with Eid vacation. I heard its one of the most relaxing cities in Middle East and has some great views. I really need a break and hopefully this should help.

I have a list of places to visit and a lot of driving in the mountains on the way. Will be posting pictures from there or once I am back.

Anyone traveling?

Kuwait for Kenya (K4K)

Kuwait for Kenya is a LoYAC initiative made up of young volunteers focusing on the overall youth development in Kenya. This year a group of volunteers traveled to Mombasa and were able to achieve the below:

Child Development Center (CDC):

Installing and fitting a new kitchen and dining hall

Mombasa Youth Counseling Center (MYCC):

Upgrading the HIV laboratory and VCT center

Goodwill Academy:

Providing student’s desks and chairs

Here is the link to their website where you can sign up for volunteering or contact them and facebook group.

Now here is what I have to say:

For years I have been thinking to participate, always wanted to but was either busy or had too many things on my plate. Yesterday was my first meeting with them and I have to say I was really impressed. The volunteers really know where they are heading and what they are talking about. So if anyone of you has been thinking about it I have posted the link above for you to know how to contact them.

I was so lost on the weekend that didn't even realise it was Girgai3an till after 12AM someone rang the door bell. I was busy doing some work on my laptop that all I expected was it must be some food delivery guy ringing the wrong house bell. I opened the door to see cute young teenagers standing in front of me. Then all of a sudden I hear a voice '3endek Girgai3an'. Without giving it a second thought I said 'La' and closed the door then opened again and asked them if they wanted some juices. They said yes...I ran to the kitchen got some juices and came back passing each one with their choice of KDD's Mango, Strawberry, Pineapple....All I could hear them screaming was Aby Manga ...Aby Haleeb kakao ;P It was one hell of experience dealing with the kids and especially when kids of my area are not the normal kids ;)

Overall it was fun and missed my old days...
