Is it important?

That a blogger has to reveal his/her identity on his blog?

Has to reveal his/her name?

Has to reveal his/her age?

His/her tribe?

How much does it effect the readers when they were expecting this perticular blogger to be something and what appeared was opposite?

& Do we have to care about what people think and say about us?

it's not important and i would do that soon, already kinda did you know.. as for what people think, to hell! you can never please everyone you know..

i think every person has his own choice regarding his identity.

i thought once about it, i can say whatever i want if no one knows me, but a second thought brought the fact that the things usually be shameful to be said under a real name is usually about other people's bad side. which i don't find it a personal interest as well as very negative.

revealing my mistakes or being poor of something i view as important to have, would be something i hide myself for it, but again usually mistakes should be worked and acted upon not to be talked about over and over, for it is not a matter of display than a matter of investigation and demands a solution, so i usually discuss it with a friend who knows everything and experience it myself and handle all my flaws, for i have enough arguments in my head to deal with :P

-i reveal my real name and identity coz i simply display and share knowledge which is the thing i usually do in real life, and if i have a problem i simply turn it to a drawing or a poem so it takes away my pain.

i don't see it valid to conceal your identity in any way unless your words would increase the number of your enemies, or you're truely suppressed by your surroundings.

but it is much of a relief to be honest about who you are.maybe the way i look doesn't really reflect the way i talk, but this is a true fact about me :D

I don't think it's important at all.... the Blogsphere is to reveal the "inner" thoughts and beliefs of one's self.... not what this person is from the outside.

But then again, it is each blogger's choice like what Deema said.

It doesn't matter to me, saying it or not.. Parts of my identity came through my posts/pictures, not intentional but it doesn't make any difference to me..

well i think it is the blogger's choice, mm you know it is easy to write what you want to talk about your thoughts freely if no one know who you are, but some blogger here they try to be someone else by not revealing their true identity like being totally different, the opposite of who they are, its like they are escaping their realty and enjoying it here by creating different personality the one that they really want to be ,, you will be shocked, i knew some . now i learned that what they write not necessary means who they are well not all bloggers and thats for sure

A blog is for the blogger to do whatever they feel like. If they wish to reveal their identity, great, if they don't, ham great. It doesn't affect the readers because if a blogger chooses to be hypocritical, it's their choice. Everyone perceives things differently. And no, no one should care what other people say or think.
Deema said…
but i certainly do care about what they think about us, you can't be away from that coz we are humans and not a system, so i would certainly wish for an opinion or a reflex and i do care and think if not intentionally then unintentionally by the power of words.

sorry again, its another long comment

lol @ Chika ... It matters , i for one will disappear for sure if people (*conditions apply) could identify me who i am. I mean blogging for me bringing out the inner beast ( good one ) , unleashing the crazyiness with like minded people. Breaking anonymity is kissing my bloggy ass goodbye or sober up and post some leeched crap ( gadgets/news & stuff) as some of the famous Kuwait bloggers do .

Kudo's on FB discovery :D
* Whatever i said up there doesnt concern you and the chikster.

Everyone has their own reasons for what they do. I keep my identity private. My Mother reads my blog, my old friends, my relatives, my husband, my son - it's not like I am anything other than who I am, but neither do I believe that everyone needs to know who I am. I like my anonymity.

I have heard that some truly despicable people use the blog-world to troll for victims. We need to be careful.

1. its not important to reveal identity - makes people curious ;)
2. age... maybe yeah..
3. her tribe ... why?
4. I guess the whole point of the blog is like an alter ego or something like that... i don't think readers are expecting anything...
5. We don't have to care what people say THAT much... ya3ni we don't run around naked saying i don't care what people think of me.. or make your life miserable trying to please other people.. moderationg.. everything in moderation :)

Well if you don't talk about 'bad stuff' then by all means reveal whatever you want but if you talk about provocative stuff then i don't think it's very smart to reveal your identity .
First of all.. like the people fougi stated ;p
Its the blogger's personal choice. Yabi ygol ohwa meno, Khal ygool. Maho gayel, la ygool.
But to be honest, every blogger.. that posts for a long period of time I mean, will one day encounter someone who recognizes him as both blogger and real person,
Lekuwait 9gheera, as I've learned in the past, and throught your posts you kinda reveal who you are, even if you dont intend it. I for one know that there are people reading my blog (some think I dont know, bas tarany adri :p ) and others whom I told about my blog, El7emdillah, etha uhma fatheen enough to want to know whats going on through me head, khal y3arfoon :P They're making me that much more important to them yezahom allah khair :P

I think it's up to every blogger what they want to do (reveal identity or not) and if a reader likes a certain blog, then it shouldn't matter who the person behind the blog is...
Anonymous said…
Not important
Dont be :P 3ad int bethat a7es u have nothing to hide! I mean eb ur blog

I agree with most that it's up to the blogger to reveal her identity.
(I try to stay anonymous because I talk about friends and family a lot...not because I have much to hide).

But as a reader, I always appreciate when the blogger puts up personal information especially when discussing personal issues. Age, background, education all color our world and sometimes without knowing anything about the blogger she becomes difficult to follow. (If you're sharing personal thoughts already, you might as well give readers a deeper understanding of who you are.)

I think anonymity adds to the beauty of the blogging experience.

well everyone before me pretty much summed it up. The only thing that is nice to know is gender (if its not obvious) and the age
Whatever said…
It's important to me to know the age and nationality of the person talking. That's it. Why? So that I can imagine his/her life and understand what's written. Everyone knows my name (obviously),, and I never thought it mattered to anyone wether it was said or not.
And we shouldn't care what people think about us, if they don't like what they're reading, then they can simply go to another blog or even turn their computers off or smash them, who cares? I had a fellow blogger commenting on my every post complaining about how much I'm talking about myself. WTF?!!
Anonymous said…
fa6ma: well I guess that fellow blogger should know that its your blog and its non of their business to tell you what you write or no? or even complain!
Whatever said…
I think I made that clear =p but that fellow blogger doesn't talk to me or visit me anymore (he was a blogger friend and that's it) .. Oh well, good riddance =)
